Morristown & Erie Railway

My first railroad police visit was yesterday with my friend Chip Greiner, As soon as I got into NYC he picked me up at The Plaza Hotel at the end of Fifth Avenue in Manhattan. Chip has been Chief Special Agent of a couple of short line railroads in New Jersey as well a deputy chief of Bergen County PD. His son is a recently commissioned police office with Bergan County and took over from his dad as Chief at the M&E. He showed me around and talked about the difference between a small switching railroad and a giant railroad like Union Pacific. I finally got my turn to buy a steak dinner for him, having had a monster steak back in 2004 that I still have "meat sweats" from. I owned him bigtime also from when his guys at the Bergan County PD shut down the highway to NYC and the entrance to the Lincoln Tunnel so we could get our caravan from Teterboro to the Peninsula hotel in midtown Manhattan with UP CEO Davidson and party. We had Port Authority Police and NYPD hopping that day. Actually Uncle Pete should have picked up the tab on this one even if it is 14 years or so too late. Chip drove out, picked me up, had a bag full of police patches, lapel pins and other stuff he gave to take on the trip. What a pal! I will see him again on July 5th when we visit Amtrak and NS.
